One of the last-mentioned’s delightful little quirks is a great fondness for blue&black and a dearth of same for Most Other Colours. What a wonderful excuse for fpu to Go Shopping in Nice Shops (including the quilt material shop in Commercial Street, Lerook, during two Shetland Folk Festival visits.)

It almost pains me to admit (although much less so now that Pres. Obama, may his shadow never grow less, occupies the White Hoose) that the Americans make by far the best patchwork cottons, both patterned and plain, in the Known Multiverse, but it is a fact that winna ding.

The centrepiece of Thomas&Thomasina was completed oh such a long long time ago…then came a Great Hiatus of Procrastination, a sort of appliqé-ers block, until one day, whilst rummaging in her crafty drawers, fpu came across a pattern for a block sent long ago by an ancient penfriend in Tennessee.

Galvanised into action, 9 X 17″ birdie squares have been completed so far this year. I can really envisage this being finished before the next Minellium, given a fair wind and a following sea.
