Of she set, rugged up to the eyeballs, waterproofed and thinsulated, in a flurry of horizontal wet snø and a bitter North wind. Little details like these do not separate a determined Anorakian from a hot frothy coffee, no sirree!

Having inexplicably omitted to wear the waterproof trousers nestling in her rucksack (or, if you are ancient fpu, rooksack, though no-one has shown the slightest desire to carry rooks in it) back-of-jeans got a bit wet. Not a boyscout then…

A large cappicino was consumed; conversation took place; information was exchanged; questions asked and answered.

Logic dictated non-wearing of w/p trousers on the return journey. Jeans already half wet, may as well even it up and make them all-round sodden. Don’t ask me, it wasn’t cat logic after all. Cat logic dictated not-going-out-at-all: coffee schmoffee - quite frankly my dears, I didn’t give a damn!

On returning to Anorak Towers, a most gratifying sight greeted her - mpu, having dusted-and-hoovered, was filling his big red bucket at the kitchen sink. (That is not a euphemism for anything. I know what some of your minds are like… )

One minute I was being the cutest cute thing for fpu in Dining Chair Forest, next, a nasty wet floppy thing was coming towards me. I will tell you this, I did not stand on the order of my going: nassssty soggy things mops. Not to be messed with.

MopMan Cometh

Like a lonesome wolf the wind howled around Rolling Acres, battering the many windows of The Sunroom of Eternity and keeping gentle EffCee from his rightful slumbers.

How, I thought, could I keep fpu amused and gainfully occupied on such an utterly crapulous©mjc day? I did all my cute things, like rushing up and down the Hallway of Hellery, chasing a variety of stuffed rodents, rolling over for tummytickling (I’ve been TT all my Liff) and even playing peek-a-boo behind FlashyMac, although that last one went down like a lead balloon. A prophet in his own time is never appreciated.

Then I had a brainwave. We could clean the Oven of Corruption (as in filth, not chicanery). An inspired idea I’m sure you’ll agree. And so very very worth it. In fact I was sure we should tell OofC we were just doing it ‘because you’re worth it‘. When I say ‘we’ obviously you would not expect a fastidious feline to get his cute fluffy paws mucky, but supervision is all in these things and slacking must be discouraged at any cost.

We used wonderful grillomat from Lakeland, the home of creative kitchenware. Whilst the grimy shelves were steeping in a sink of hot water and washing soda, the door and other non self-cleaning bits were painted with gorrillamat and left for a couple of hours. If your oven only gets cleaned twice a year (I’m sorry that’s a gross exaggeration. Sometime I have no editorial control) it will need that long.

I shared in fpu’s sense of achievement and she was gracious enough to thank me for my encouragement and support.
