¡CHAOS!
Such a time we have been having. Such a time! Chaos all around us, chaos to the right of us, chaos to the left of us, volleyed and thundered the effing boxes, into the jaws of madness we galloped, and, as far as me’n'Marmers can see, there’s no way out for the glorious 39th. We’re well stuffed. Hoist by other folks’ petards. Buggerupfinis Mastah!
Firstly, there is the purrospect of being ripped untimely from our natal ‘eath, an unlooked-for cruelty but one over which we have no control.
Secondly, on returning from our latest sojourn in Big Cage (while the pu’s popped down to The Kingdom to sign the lease on a nice wee hoose in Lower Largo) we find that the kindly and cosy option of being a ‘Guest Blogger’ - with fluffy towels and ensuite facilities - on the new (relatively benign) Islandblogging Dictatorship has been taken away, to be substituted with ‘Ex Islanblogger” status. Statelessness looms. I could greet. In fact we have been. This is a deep cut indeed to be inflicted by someone who, at the moment, only ‘has a dream’ to live on an island, in which he will be forever a foreigner.
I don’t quite know how to explain, but gratitude is a very hard purrlace to inhabit in perpetuity. We are grateful to Uncle Les, no doubt about it, but we can’t help feeling hard-done-by just now. To be cast out into the blogging wilderness after all these years…we who have contributed so much…who have carefully groomed our loyal followers and treated them with every courtesy…

This is how we feel at being treated so cruelly.

Too bad FC, I hope you get lots of comments from your loyal followers
Are your blogging days over?
Honest folks I’m only having fun.
to make you feel warm and furry
I hope Landlady and I are not your only followers
I’m not Stirring it up here but do you have to be born on the islands not to be considered a foriegner forever. What if you married an Islander and your kids were born there, no difference?
Upper Lager sounds like my kind of place. Is it Fife percent Lager?
when i think that the blogs most read on ib were your’s and 3xxxx333 ifeel very, very sad
:I wonder how many bloggers would be left,if they took out everybody on IB that wasn’t scottish??????????
Sincere commiserations. I do hope that you continue to blog and that there is a link for us to follow. While I am not implying you can walk on water [after all cats do not like wet paws] I like to think there will be a resurrection.
All those boxes! Where to place a favourite picture? Have we enough cupboard space? Days and weeks of ’stuff’ not looking at home and being moved from one place to another … the joys of flitting!
Well FC.
As I understand it ,Les can keep some of the family happy some of the time but not all, all of the family all the time. You still have your slot to blog(Post) as against commenting as I understand it. Hope you all have a comfy ride to the new Hoos. Regards. roy.
Not you too
That’s what I like to see, lashings of virtual sympathy
I shall just have to find out how to set up virtual hoose on my own! This has been a useful stepping-stone out into Utter Space. Purrhaps.
However, as the inimitable Tws has said in his own small corner of the blogosphere, it ain’t real liff!
And, dear taddoe, it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with place! You really shouldn’t take things so seriously…
Just at the moment any kind of lager would come in useful. The worst chemical pish (no names no pack drill) might get those stubborn stains off the paintwork.
Fpu busy filling in picture-’ook-’oles…100 and counting…
I will presume upon my old pal, word-dueller and cadversery the Aerial Feline to permit a leetle blogpiracy - after all, he is so used to it! I refer you all to my recent comment on “Blog Eligablity”, which should appear once it has past the moderator. Bless you all - long, short n’ tall. Especially our favourite cat-crew, the famous comedy team, the double act of the century- Marmers and the Flying Cat.
Sorry to hear of your predicament, FC. Good luck with the move. See you on here or wherever.
FC, keep a hold on your furry ears now …!!
There are many different ways to think about any particular statement … such is the human way … look at the controversy generated by different ways of interpreting religion, in particular …!
Look at the ‘Island by Island’ page, and at the bottom, under the Lewis entries, is an entry called ‘ex-island bloggers’, which will be a link to your newly-set-up and fresh blogging home, with wordpress … I for one hope there will be one for ‘Flying Cat’ after the dust has settled and you’re all comfy and cozy in your new home …
It’s really easy for someone with the wit and guile of a very intelligent feline indeed to set up a new blog … and once you’ve begun writing, readers can bookmark you or put you on their blogroll (I keep Mick from Breasclete on mine, as we are virtual neighbours), in order to read you every day … There you have it … Purrfectly transparent to the user and public alike …!
The only difference is that you won’t appear on the big list on the right ‘Updated Blogs’ …
Go on … Tell us you’ll carry on … We want to know what happens next …! With pictures …!
Go on … go on … go on … go on … (slipping into Mrs Doyle here …) …!!
(I put this comment on ‘Blog eligibility’ thread, but it seems better placed here … :- )
Keep your Blog going FC I knew you were really popular.
Landlady will show you the way.
Dear Mrs Doyle and Cap’n Pugwash, of course we will not just disappear into Oblivion…but I would have liked to be a Guest Blogger, rather than an ex. However, some time after our Very Last Blog (which hasn’t happened yet) in which we hope to all but drown in a sea of bathos, we will try to follow Uncle Les’ instructions on how to set up a blog of some sort. Gawd knows, unless we get ¡HELP! from babybipeds, it will have to be a poor pale imitation of a thing, as I’m sure it takes a great deal of computer literacy to insert all these lovely widgets and themes and shiny buttons UL has given us to purrlay with in here.

My dear Mister Lighthouse, how very kind of you to cast a flitting gleam into my corner of blogland. *purrrr*
‘Wit and guile’ gets you a pint in the Crusoe at the very least Cap’n P!
Time for The Last Strim…
If I had half a brain, I’d find a way to set up an Ex-Island Blogging website/annex where we could all huddle together (and boy do Mr ML and I need hugs as this time) and step into this virtual world together. Then we could share widgets and tricks (Uncle Les may even let us ‘borrow’ them.
I’m not promising anything but I will ask around in my circle of webnerds I know and see if I can find a way forward.
We survived the shift from BBC IB (which still seems to be trundling on - was our excavation a consiparcy?), I’m sure we can survive another.
hello mrs and mr madlamb
how are you coping
I’m sure the house must feel very quiet and empty.in case you didn’t see my blog marmeduke came back on monday night, thanks to “oor wullie” it would be great is one of your friends could set up a site:lots of hugs andxxx’s

This week has been quite tough (apologies to FC for borrowing your blog) in lots of ways. We’re sure we’ll get through but just dealing with each new reminder as they come up: no furry face to stroke when feeling stressed, tidying away toys and blankets, finding hairs on clothes, passing on food pouches to a rescue centre, rainy days where MC would be running wild round the house or wanting a toweling down.
I’m Sooooo glad Marmaduke turned up. It makes me happier to know your wee boy is home.
I have resorted to Facebook blogging but not sure it would suffice for the IB annex. It depends on whether we want to run major blogs or just wee comments.
ML–i am on facebook are you still going by madlamb
know how you feel re mac
still no TC
Landlady–so thats what the smell is
We *could* all just have our own Wordpress sites and just link it back to the ex-grouping on IB (as Les has offered). (Why do I feel as if I should be sitting in a circle, then standing up and saying ‘my name is Madlamb and I’m an ex-IBer?)
True we miss out on the widgety things but Mr ML has a Wordpress for Dummys lurking around somewhere - I’m sure we can share code. In fact, if you look at the wordpress website, there is documentation and a forum so plenty of places to find out how to do bits.
I have to head off to Church in a moment but I’ll have a look later in the week. Perhaps if we all hold hands/paws we will manage to find ourself though this maze. xx
Taddoe - I’m a real person on FB - I may set up a Madlamb one for IB purposes but I’ll let you know in due course.
on facebook,I go by my real name as well :wink:I was at the church service at the retirement home where I work now and again as today it was the “fete”had a good time
Why do all the interesting posts appear over the weekend when I often don’t switch my computer on? FC, I hope you can find a way to be linked easily to IB with your new blog. Personally I think you should have Special Status. You will be an IBer in spirit if not in furry body. You should be like the Gurkhas and have residence rights

p.s. Carol, I am not Scottish either but I’ve probably spent more years in Scotland than you have. So where do you draw the line?
FC…not sure I really get this? As you are moving does this stop you being/maintaining FC on here? Does the status of guest/exIBer mean any loss of posting/comment ability?? Lots of recent departures have occurred and some but some arestill visible (ML and taddoe) whereas I can’t find any teace of XXXX etc or even GravirLIfe, Croft?) Whatever else it seems you have contributed a lot to IB and amused quite a few people, I hope you find a place for your Blog and will look forward to seeing it out there somewhere? kind regards/best wishes..
Does that mean I get to be up close and purrsonal with that latter-day Boadicea, Joanna Lumley
Yee-haw!!!
I can’t be bothered explaining it all Mr Ferryman, but just refer you to here:- http://islandblogging.co.uk/tos/
Its all purrfectly reasonable and logical, to a point, but excludes me after I move to Fife. You still get links to new kiwi and madlamb (archived not deleted) because they didn’t throw their toys oot the pram during the Big Stooshie, during which a severe amount of misunderstanderation occurred, testosterone levels went off the scale and the new Terms of Service became necessary.
In response to madlamb, I think, having seen the angst Uncle Les has had to go through so far, I would rather go it alone. As far as I can see, setting up this multi-pronged site has been a huge amount of work and continues to be so as hackers try to slash and burn our lovely new homeland.
There’s barely room to swing a dug in the kitchen today…me’nMarmers are aff oot to patrol Rolling Acres…
Purrhaps you should contact J Lumley and ask her to support your very worthy cause? I’m sure she’s really really good at neck-skritching
Jill-the only thing that stops me ,not going back to Scotland is WORK. I left Scotland in 1976 as my late husband was french, but I have never asked to be a french citizen so I am still Scottish through and through(my son has and late daughter had duel nationality)My comment was based on the fact that the IB bloggers who are so against anybody blogging, who do not live on a scottish island, are not even, british (i won’t say scottish anymore) I don’tmind that after having blogged((thanks, les—no i’m not sarcastic– he has taught me a lot about internet)I was unable to continue on this site, its the fact that people like madlamb and fc(well their pu’s) i.e, cant contribute anymore.
Carol, your nationality and place of residence are of no importance whatsoever. Certainly not here on IB. Apologies to FC for having to use his blog to say this. Subject closed.
Gosh don’t apologise. I go off and pack a dozen boxes (and poor mpu is yet again despatched to Kirkwall to get another 15) and things go gittin’ interestin’.
It’s just a blog…
Well said m’counsel from Eek!
I did say you should stop taking it so seriously taddoe!
Purrhaps landlady will let me pick her mighty brain in the future, if/when Uncle casts me oot like a worn ould cloot…”Never darken my doorstep again thou pesky warmint!” I fondly imagine him crying…
Wow, It’s becoming another Gaelic debate. Cool down Jill.
There is no-one cooler than m’learned Counsel-Jill-from Eek, HarryD, and I defend anyone’s right to express a point of view as long as it doesn’t descend into a malestrom of nastiness.
So that’s ok then…
Oh dear I’m feeling a bit Silly…
Which it hasn’t.
Oh dinnae greet taddoe or you’ll be having your own purrsonal nosepipe ban
I’m considering having a Lewis ban on my blog. They are taking over the WORLD I tell yea!
First it’s Grimshader trying to hatch a plot for world domination by wantonly making up ficticious bloggers- or was Natjane really moving there?- in an attempt to boost their bloggers, and now I seem to be holding up the Clyde Islands singlehandedly since Gaberlunzie went All Quiet.. though she did sweetly email me to tell me she hoped to blog again soon.
Which was nice…
Well that was nice. Some people just aren’t cut out for the hurly-burly and the gay social whirl that is islandblogging
I’ll try not to bother you while you’re in season so to speak…
You’d have to make a special case for Tws, landlady. No-one would be so cruel as to ban Himself in his own wee corner of the blogosphere doing what it is he does in there whatever it is and why has he gone a bit quiet?
Me’n'Marmers may be going to be ever so lucky as to meet Cap’n Pugwash, Pirate, after we’ve moved. That would make our tally up to four non-virtual meetings…
Yes TWS and a few others are permitted past my Lewis ban.( Nae gaelic allowed ,but.) He HAS gone a wee bit quiet again, hasn’t he? Tws, where art thou?
send it to Sarah mac, she is next on the list- I can get her address off Facebook if you need me to. did grannye send it snail mail do you think???
Would love to have a visit from TC please - taddoe, please email me on sarahwm@btinternet.com and I’ll give you my home address…..how exciting
FC, you’re right. Individual solutions may be best.
I’m working in a real office these days and often not at home much, so wouldn’t really have time to keep something like that going - sorry for the false expectation.
It was a kind thought madlamb
I hope the daily grind isn’t getting you down - and the lack of a certain feline…

Gosh landlady, you mean TC might arrive en route to who-knows-where, in the company of a Pirate who looks like he might scrub up nice on a yacht! How cool is that
Sorry to hear that you will soon be exiled from this site. Looking forward to following you on your new adventure (blog). Don’t know what all the fuss is about. Most of the blogs don’t portray much of island life anyway. Maybe I will find your new link on Mr. 4X’s site. Good Luck to you and all your feline friends.
okay sarah,will do
sarah–have done
So this is big day,fc

Hi Fc.
I know the person from Eek charges like wounded bull but I would like my Moleskins back, please.
You won’t get anything back from FC, Roy: a) it’s all packed up in boxes, and b) getting anything out of FC is like pulling teeth. I’m still waiting for the remaining half million of my fee…
It’s all going to McAdie&Reeve, Removals. Sorry m’learned friend, but the coffers are bear…drat those bears…bare.

Not quite Carol. Today is scrubbing months’ worth of grease off the tops of cupboards and defrosting the fridge and getting the washing machine ready to move and wandering about AT with random objets in hand, muttering unintelligibly the while.
That’s the bipeds.
Me’n'Marmers were unceremoniously bundled into baskets and taken off to Auntie Janice’s gaff again. She gave us a nice card to say goodbye…*wee sniffle*
Tomorrow - Armageddon
(((hugs))))) FC and good luck with you’re move xx
Cheerio for Noo. Have a Good journey.
FC’s fans may rest assured that technical support of the highest order will be provided in any form and quantity that may be needed to ensure his continued presence upon our green and pleasant internets.
Once ensconced in Lower Largesse, and re-united with a band of broads to bring in the www once more, he will no doubt return. Watch this space (or some other space - if you see any spaces, watch them) and do not adjust your settees.
EffCee, your blog is clear, and I must say my heart is heavy
your post has brought a tear, so I’ll go out for a bevvy
You’ve blogged and bent the rules, on your very own internet highway
You’ve purred, you’ve got your wish, You blogged it your way
Your blogs, are all about you, in your Sunroom without pretension
You blogged what you should not say, and Marmalade was an extension
You had no plans for inter-course, a careless paw that struck a poor wee frogee
And yes, if I had a wish, you’d see things my way
Yeah there were blogs, just the one or two,
that meant a spell in the jail for you
But through all your blogs you did not shout
You got your friends to bail you out
You showed them all, without a ball
And blogged it your way…….
That’s it then puss. Cheery my furry friend.
Another winner from Tws …
Hiding? Me? I’ve crawled out from underneath that mossy stone, just to say “Farewell!” to the 2 Furry refugees, and will now go and crawl back under that mossy stone now, it’s safer there, well it is for me. A Cheery to you my “Well Scrubbed-Up Weather Girl”
